Paper or Plastik Café is a neighborhood café that prides itself on carefully prepared, excellently sourced coffee and food of the highest quality. We serve single origin, eco-friendly beans roasted by Paper or Plastik, and sourced from third wave coffee roasters including Intelligentsia, Handsome Roasters, and Coava. Each cup is individually brewed to order ensuring a consistent, fully realized coffee experience with each pour.

A family business run by design team Anya and Yasha Michelson with their daughter Marina, alongside kitchen team consulting Chef Gary Robins with Chef de Cuisine Aldo Mendoza, Paper or Plastik’s dedication to quality does not stop at coffee. Our teas are of the highest quality, coming from Bellocq and Kusmi Teas. Our made in-house menu includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as a selection of pastries, rotating daily market salads, and flatbreads. Committed to sourcing local and seasonal ingredients, we work directly with small farmers. Local bakeries, including Cake Monkey and Sweets for the Soul, provide our some of pastries, and the rest are made in house. Our dinner program features an extended service offered Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights highlighting a market-driven specials menu with a three-course prix fixe menu offered at $29. In addition

Our adjacent dance studio, Mimoda Studio can be viewed from the mezzanine level of the café. A creative space designed for adventurous artists, Mimoda is home to performers with quality and original programming that is unique to LA. Capable of transforming into a stage, a gallery, a gathering point or a rehearsal studio, Mimoda adapts to all needs and works devoted to art under the artistic direction of Yasha Michelson. The café also houses a retail corner curated by Anya & Marina featuring a treasure trove of craft objects, home goods, and gourmet foodstuffs sourced both locally and around the world.

We have always been fascinated with the neighborhood café as a social staple. Versatile in nature, cafes supply not only food and drink, but also companionship and conversation. The mission of Paper or Plastik Cafe is to be a social destination for artists and their admirers alike, and to, above all sustain our customers with a commitment to quality.
